Clash Of Titans Wins U.k. Box Office Battle

Action remake CLASH OF THE TITANS has fought its way to the top of the U.K. box office - making $8.4 million (£5.6 million) in its opening weekend (02-04Apr10).

The blockbuster, starring Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes, has followed its success in the U.S. - where it made more than $61.4 million (£38.4 million) in earnings over the British Easter holiday weekend.

Animated movie How To Train Your Dragon, which features the voice of Gerard Butler, flew into second place with revenues of $7.2 million (£4.8 million).

In the third spot was Matthew Vaughn’s controversial comic book movie Kick-Ass, with takings of £5.7 million (£3.8 million), while Emma Thompson’s latest outing in Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang was at number four with £3.9 million (£2.6 million).

Tim Burton’s record breaking fantasy adventure Alice In Wonderland hangs in the top five with earnings of $1.8 million (£1.2 million).
