March 5 2010 (Sampurn Wire): K.Balachandar, the veteran moviemaker known for his brilliant motifs and characterisations, is impressed with Gowtham Menon’s talent after watching the latter’s latest movie, ‘Vinnaithandi Vauvaaya’. In fact, he has personally congratulated Gowtham on a job well done, and has predicted that Gowtham can take Tamil cinema to a whole new level, along the lines of S. S. Vasan, A. V. Meiyappa Chettiyar, Bharathiraja, Mani Rathnam, and, of course K. Balachandar himself.
In his message to Gowtham, Balachandar mentioned that he did not feel the presence of the actors, Silambarasan and Trisha, but was totally involved in the characters that they played, Karthik and Jessie. “This 80-year-old man, on his way home after the movie, was wondering if he could say ‘I Love You’ to his 75-year-old wife. He did, and she blushed. And hey, son, I think you have won!”
