Soul star ERYKAH BADU has credited her Twitter.com fans with helping to secure a sample from SIR PAUL McCARTNEY after they put her in touch with the rocker via an online campaign.

The Bag Lady singer was eager to use part of the song Arrow Through Me from McCartney’s former band Wings for her forthcoming single Gone Baby, Don’t Be Long.

But she had no direct contact details for McCartney and had just one day to get clearance for the sample to appear on her new release New Amerykah, Part II: Return of the Ankh.

She issued a desperate plea to her Twitter followers last week (24Feb10), begging anyone who had contact numbers for people close to McCartney to send her their details.

Badu first reached out to Lenny Kravitz and his actress daughter Zoe, knowing the rocker was friendly with the Beatles legend’s designer daughter Stella McCartney.

She explained, “Anybody who follows @LennyKravitz please help us to connect . lost his contact . i need his help with some important info on my new album..

“See the deal is i’m trying to clear a Paul McCartney sample and i hear lenny knows his daughter stella and maybe i can connect w/ her… if i can talk to PAUL MCCARTNEY i can get the sample cleared .. have less than 24 hours or song won’t make album . help . it will happen!! (sic)”

After a series of ‘tweets’ with associates of McCartney, Badu managed to get the veteran star on the phone - and he approved the sample there and then.

She logged back online to break the good news to her fans - and publicly thank them for their fast work.

She wrote, “Paul McCartney approved the sample . Cleared!!!

“I want 2 officially thank my Twitter fam (family) 4 helping me2 clear my Paul McCartney sample! We kik a**! (sic)”

Badu’s new album is scheduled for release on 30 March (10).
