Patrik Jaerbyn, 40, crashes badly in men’s super-G

WHISTLER, British Columbia — Forty-year-old skier Patrik Jaerbyn of Sweden has crashed in the men’s Olympic super-G and was removed from the course.

Injury details were not immediately available.

Jaerbyn caught a gate near the end of his run Friday and was turned in the air before landing heavily on his back. He bounced on the icy surface before sliding to a stop by the side of the course.

The Swede was the No. 29 starter in a tough race in which most racers had problems staying within the painted blue lines guiding the course.
