Guy Ritchie’s pub license challenged in London
LONDON — Neighbors of Guy Ritchie’s celebrity-friendly pub in west London have challenged the filmmaker’s license at a local council.
Residents complain that The Punch Bowl in London’s swish Mayfair neighborhood attracts large crowds of noisy customers who spill out into the street. They allege that the revelers often leave behind broken glass and trash.
The 18th century Georgian pub was bought by Ritchie and others in early 2008, when he was still married to Madonna.
The 41-year-old Ritchie and his fellow proprietors transformed the traditional boozer into a celebrity hotspot and hangout for star-hunting paparazzi.
Three residents demanded Thursday that City of Westminster Council either revoke or change the pub’s license.
