Nas Ordered To Up Payments To Kelis

Rapper NAS has been ordered to increase monthly payments to his estranged wife KELIS after a court hearing on Wednesday (09Dec09).

Los Angeles Superior Court judge David Cunningham III ended two days of testimony by demanding the I Can hitmaker pay his soon-to-be ex-wife and their baby son $51,000 (GBP31,375)-a-month.

Nas had been paying Kelis $40,000 (GBP25,000)-a-month since July (09).

But the rap star’s lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, insists the new divorce deal isn’t all bad news for his client - Nas no longer has to pay monthly charges on the former couple’s home in Los Angeles.

Kelis’ attorney, Laura Wasser, says her client is “thrilled” with the new ruling.

Meanwhile, in court on Wednesday, Nas testified to suffering financial woes, claiming he owes millions in taxes.

Nas and Kelis split at the beginning of the year (09) just before the birth of their son Knight.
