It’s finally official. Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty is getting engaged to her London-based millionaire beau Raj Kundra on Saturday, October 24. Shilpa has been dating Raj ever since she stepped out of the Big Brother’s house.

Only close friends and family will attend the event that is set to take place today at Raj’s Juhu residence. However the not so good news is that Shilpa’s sister Shamita will have to probably miss out on big sister’s grand moment since she is fighting in the Bigg Boss house.

The wedding will take place in December in Mumbai, followed by a reception in London,according to reports,

The bride-to-be will be wearing a Manish Malhotra creation for the function.

Shilpa, who had been considered a second-rung actress in Bollywood for a long time got a career-boost with the Channel 4 reality show Big Brother when she won. The racist row with fellow housemate, late Jade Goody, shot her in the limelight. Shilpa finally won the show.

The rumors about a possible engagement between the Bollywood beauty and her businessman boyfriend started earlier this year when Shilpa’s father, Surendra Shetty, applied to an Indian court to have his passport returned so that he would be able to travel abroad in the near future.

But the “Dostana” item girl denied the news and quickly took to her blog to say:

Like I’ve said before I will make an official announcement on this site like I always do, the day my parents decide on my marriage date and I promise the press will have at least a month to celebrate the announcement! So to set the record straight, NO I AM NOT GETTING MARRIED THIS YEAR, yes I am looking at next year, but date not decided.

Well now Desi Hits! can confirm that this time around, Raj is indeed putting a ring on Shilpa’s finger! DesiHits.com spoke with Shilpa Shetty’s publicist who confirmed the news and told us that Raj’s parents are flying in to Mumbai from London and that Shilpa will be wearing a saree designed by Manish Malhotra.

So why this sudden change of mind? Just a few months ago Shilpa didn’t seem interested in talking about marriage at all and now she has confirmed that she is getting engaged! Well, Raj popped the question on Diwali and according to the Hindu calendar Saturday is an auspicious day, so why not?

Shilpa is all set for the big day and making her look like a perfect bride- to- be . Manish Malhotra, would be dressing her up in a saree and Raj, who has always managed to look impeccable, is planning to take matters in his own hands.

The industry is abuzz wondering whether Shilpa would be saying goodbye to Bollywood post marriage. To put all stops to such talk, Raj has already made his intentions public. He is planning to shift base to Mumbai from London as he does not want Shilpa to sacrifice her bright career.

After a high profile relationship that has lasted for nearly two years, Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra are ready to take the next step.
