Not much information is available on the funeral plans of singer Mary Travers, who died on September 16. After battling with leukemia since 2004 Mary Travers breathed her last at the Dunbary Hospital. Reports have it that though her bone marrow transplant was successful complications arose in her chemo therapy, as a result of which she sadly died at the age of 72, on 16th September.

Reportedly, it is gathered from several sources that her funeral will be conducted on 18th September, though nothing is made official yet. Travers will be mourned by her two beautiful daughters, Alicia and Erika, her loving husband, Ethan Robbins, her band mates Peter and Paul, and all music lovers world over.

Mary Travers became famous since she made her debut with the other two members of the band, Paul and Peter, in 1961, with “Bitter End” at Greenwich’s Village. Peter Yarrow, fondly remembers her, and says, “It was, as Mary always was, honest and completely authentic. That’s the way she sang, too; honestly and with complete authenticity.”

Travers had last performed at the band’s reunion tour earlier this year at New Jersey. It was she and her other two band members who revived folk music and brought it to the lime light. There was always a kind of mystery surrounding her, and her songs like “Leaving on a Jet Plane” and “Puff The Magic Dragon”, will always remain forever.

Friend and band mate Paul Stookey says on her death,”I am deadened and heartsick beyond words to consider a life without Mary Travers and honored beyond my wildest dreams to have shared her spirit and her career.”

Not only Paul and Peter, but also all the music lovers around the world will be missing her.
