Reach model Gia Marie Carangi, who was considered as the first Supermodel of late twentieth century once again through the 1998 TV film GIA led by Angelina Jolie, which will appear on Oxygen television movie tonight at 7 amd 9.30.
The film earned Golden Globes for Jolie and co-star Faye Dunaway. Jolie plays Gia who died from AIDS at age 26 in November 18, 1986.
Though famous models like Janice Dickinson and Dorian Leigh have often claimed to be the supermodels, but Gia was considered to be the first woman ever reached the top positions of the modeling world - the world’s first supermodel.
After the death of her mentor Wilhelmina Cooper, Gia was very much shocked and started taking drugs and alcohol and completely ruined her career.
In later years things turned up so bad that she used to sleep with unknown men for money and was raped several times. Once while suffering from pneumonia and admitted to a hospital in Norristown, Pennsylvania, she was diagnosed with AIDs and eventually died of the killer disease in 1986.
