LONDON - The doctor who pronounced Michael Jackson dead has told a court in Los Angeles that the King of Pop died long before he reached hospital.
Dr Richelle Cooper, who spent more than an hour trying to resuscitate the singer, said there were no signs of life when Jackson arrived at the emergency room on June 25, 2009, reports the Daily Express.
The head of ER at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Centre in Los Angeles was testifying at a hearing to decide if Jackson’s doctor should face a criminal trial.
Dr Conrad Murray, accused of negligence and a cover-up, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.
He has been accused of giving Jackson an overdose of the anaesthetic drug propofol combined with powerful sedatives.
Dr Cooper told the court that sedatives mixed with the anaesthetic may have caused Jackson to stop breathing. (ANI)
