LONDON - A new book has revealed that Billy Joel’s hit song ‘Uptown Girl’ was not about Christie Brinkley, but Elle Elle Macpherson.

Christine Brinkley, who starred in the music video and went on to marry the singer, was long believed to be the girl living in a white bread world, reports the Sun.

A new book titled ‘The Girl in the Song’ now claims it was the Aussie beach babe who Joel originally longed for.

Authors Michael Heatley and Frank Hopkinson claim Joel was on holiday in the Caribbean when he met three models staying in the same hotel - Macpherson, Brinkley and Whitney Houston.

Joel fell for Macpherson and the two began some serious dating for a while, the same time in which Joel penned a song he was calling ‘Uptown Girls’.

But he later split from the Australian supermodel, turned his affection to Brinkley and made her the sole focus of his song. (ANI)
