GUWAHATI - Bollywood celebrities along with Guwahati residents participated in a peace run on Saturday, pledging support for peace and harmony in the region.
The event, ‘Great Guwahati Run,’ was organised to commemorate the deaths of at least 100 people who were killed two years ago in a violent spree of bomb blasts.
Eleven bombs blasts on October 30, 2008 killed and wounded hundreds of innocent civilians.
Bollywood celebrities Dino Morea, Zarine Khan and Ismail Darbar participated in the event.
“The Great Guwahati Run is an attempt to stand up against barbaric extremism. We are in hand-in-hand to fight terror. We are extremely happy with the response we have received. Over 15,000 participants have registered to participate in the event. This proves that the people of Assam want to fight terror,” said Zareer Khan, organizer of the event.
