LONDON - A rare Darth Vader costume from ‘Star Wars’ film ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ is going on sale next month and is expected to fetch as much as 230,000 pounds.

The full outfit, comprising a helmet, mask, shoulder armour and shin guards, will go under the hammer at Christie’s in London on 25 November, the BBC reports.

The costume, which is thought to be the first complete one to be sold at auction, was bought by a private US collector in 2003.

Neil Roberts of Christie’s said the sale presented ‘a rare opportunity to ‘Star Wars’ fans around the world’.

“Darth Vader is defined by his costume which has made him one of the most recognized characters from the history of film,” he said.

“The global appeal of the ‘Star Wars’ films, and the interest that the series has attracted from a number of generations, is perhaps unprecedented in the world of cinema,” Roberts added.

A percentage of the sale proceeds will be donated to Cancer Research UK. (ANI)
