MUMBAI - Designers Bhumika and Shyamal Shodhan took the audiences on a musical journey by having composer duo Salim and Sulaiman Merchant and singer Sunidhi Chauhan as their show stoppers.

While Salim and Sulaiman opened the show, Sunidhi dressed in a green-maroon sari came in towards the end of the show. Sulaiman also enthralled audiences by presenting the song “Shukran allah” from “Kurbaan” to conclude the show.

“I was pretty comfortable walking the ramp and we could present a song as well,” Salim told IANS.

“It’s not very different from performing on stage, but it’s a responsibility because you are showcasing someone’s design. It’s an interesting move for an artiste or a singer or a performer to showcase someone’s design as a showstopper,” he added.

When asked why they roped in Salim, Sulaiman and Sunidhi for the show, Shyamal said: “We had seen them at the IIFA (International Indian Film Academy awards) and thought they were very good, so we asked them then and they readily agreed.”

The collection that the two designers showcased here was called Bejewelled that comprised of lehengas, sherwanis, bandhgalas and jodhpur pants, skirts with cholis, achkans and sarees.

“The collection was a bridal line for the season. It’s a very heavy collection and we have used actual jewellry pieces to make it very unique. With Sunidhi, Salim and Suleman this has been a great pleasure,” said Bhumika.

The colours that were used for this line were red, wine, green, beige and the fabrics chosen were hand woven brocades, silk, velvets, georgettes, raw silk and net.
