‘Dabangg’ Opening Exceeds The Expectations

MUMBAI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- As widely expected the action flick Dabangg starring Bollywood actor Salman Khan has struck the bull’s eye at the box office and the film has opened with a bumper start all over India. In general the movies of the actor that gets released on Eid get good response at the box office and this movie has repeated the trend. However, the movie rich in typical Bollywood style dialogue and action has been panned by the majority of the critics who have slammed it for being low on content and high on entertainment quotient. The controversy surrounding the sleazy and raunchy item number Munni Badnaam Huyi also helped the film to draw in the viewers. However the producers changed the lyrics in the song to avoid complication after a lawsuit was filed against them.
The success of the film and the huge opening it has got has prompted the critics to comment that the majority of the viewers in India prefer mindless entertainment over quality of content. However, the critical panning has not deterred the fans of the actor who ensured that the film gets above 90% occupancy in the major circles. The film Dabangg has bagged a whopping 13 crore on its opening day. It is doing well both at the single screens and multiplexes.
Since there are holidays head the movie Dabangg may continue to run in packed houses and become one of the biggest hits of the year. The opening has even taken the industry experts by surprise. This is lucky for the actor as well as debutante Sonakshi Sinha.
