“Beetle juice” actor Glenn Shadix passes away

Los Angeles (GaeaTimes.com) - American actor Glenn Shadix passed away on Tuesday. He was 58 years old. The actor is best remembered for his role as Otho the interior decorator in “Beetlejuice”. The Tim Burton’s hit movie was a cult favorite in 80s.

The actor was in Alabama at his home. He left Hollywood and moved to his hometown where he bought his dream home. The home unfortunately was destroyed in a fire in December of 2008.

He died in Alabama. According to his sister Susan Gagne the actor was “having mobility problems” for quite some time. The paralyzed actor was confined to a wheel chair. He was in his kitchen when he died. As per his sister’s assumptions he must have fallen off his chair and hit his head in the kitchen. The blow proved fatal for him. He died of the wound.

The actor whose real name was William G. Scott was born in Alabama on 15 April 1952. Before moving to Hollywood he was a New Yorker. He was theatre actor. Tim Burton noticed him in one of the stage shows and offered him the role on interior decorator in his movie “Beetlejuice”. The role became anonymous with Shadix afterwards and he will always be remembered as Otho. His association with Tim Burton moved for two more films.

Shadix was not married. He was an openly self declared gay. During his teens he underwent electroconvulsive therapy to turn straight but it failed. He was a routine theatre actor. He was a photographer and a gay right activist.
