LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- One day after the release of The Last Exorcism‘ in theaters across America, people all over have been scrambling the web to get a clearer explanation of the controversial ending. The Daniel Stamm directed horror flick has been shot in the ‘mockumentary’ style due to which the audience have an almost first person perspective and that is of the priest Cotton Marcus played by Patrick Fabian. At the end of the movie, the chaos that occurs is viewed more from the view of Cotton Marcus which makes the film more horrifying and confusing at the same time.

The plot of ‘The Last Exorcism‘ revolves around a priest who undertakes his last exorcism. Being a non-believer in the devil, Marcus Cotton’s faith is shaken when he takes on the job of Nell Sweetzer’s exorcism, the daughter of a farmer in a small village. A camera crew follows the priest as he undertakes the ritual and gradually darker truths are revealed. Experts have said that the film takes a complete U-turn in the last 15 minutes when it is hinted that Nell Sweetzer, a 16 year old girl was actually raped and pregnant with a child. Her strange plight in the earlier scenes gave rise to several questions in the mind of the audience. Some might have felt that it was real case of possession while others believed that it was the psychological backlash of the trauma of the rape that the girl was experiencing.

In the end, the entire village is shown performing a satanic ritual and the local town pastor is shown throwing Nell’s offspring into the flames. The camera crew also meets with a tragic fate apparently. The audience is bound to ask themselves whether it was Satan all along, at the end of ‘The Last Exorcism‘.
