MUMBAI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The latest offering from Karan Johar’s production house is the much-anticipated flick “We Are Family” that releases in theaters across the country today. The film which has been directed by debutante Siddharth Malhotra draws inspiration from the smash hit 1998 Hollywood flick “Stepmom,” a fact that is surely going to escalate the expectations from the movie. At the same time, given the high-profile star cast which comprises of Kajol, Arjun Rampal as well as Kareena Kapoor is another factor that is playing a pivotal role in ensuring that the movie-lovers make a trip to their nearest theaters to catch the much-awaited flick.

The initial reviews that the Siddharth Malhotra-directed flick “We Are Family” is getting from some of the critics is quite positive as the film manages to entertain viewers who enjoy watching the flicks with high doses of drama. However, some of the critics have slammed the movie saying that the Indian version of “Stepmom” fails to portray the subtlety of relationships that the original version was successful in showing effortlessly.

The fact that the two leading ladies of Bollywood, Kajol and Kareena Kapoor would be seen confronting each other in “We Are Family” is one of the prime reasons which would pull audiences to the movie theaters. Although Kajol has received wide acclaims for her portrayal of the ailing mother who struggles to keep her family together, many feel Kareena Kapoor has not been able to deliver as per the expectations of the viewers. However, it remains to be seen that how “We Are Family” fares at the box office after it releases today.
