Fantasia Thanks Nurse For Tough Love

Troubled singer FANTASIA BARRINO has publicly thanked a nurse for bringing her back from the brink of despair and giving her the strength to get on with her life after a recent suicide attempt.

The American Idol winner-turned-Broadway star slipped into unconsciousness after purposely taking a handful of aspirin and sleeping pills earlier this month (Aug10) in an attempt to “end it all” after months of family and romantic drama.

She was hospitalised and doctors managed to save her life.

Barrino admits she was disappointed when she woke up and realised she wasn’t dead.

In a candid new interview for VH1’s Behind The Music documentary series, she says, “(I was like), ‘It didn’t work, I’m still here in this hellhole; still here with all this drama going on.’”

But a nurse’s tough talk made the singer realise she had to get on with her life.

She adds, “She was a blessing into my life because she didn’t tell me what I wanted to hear, she told me what I needed to hear and she looked at me and said, ‘You gotta get up and you gotta get outta here, because you haven’t fulfilled your destiny.”
