Sreeram Chandra is The New Idol of India

Mumbai (GaeaTimes.com) - Hyderabad based Sreeram Chandra secured the top position in Indian Idol 5, as expected by many viewers of the show. In the Grand Finale, Bhoomi Trivedi and Rakesh Maini were the other two contestants. Bhoomi was chosen to be an RJ on Radio Mirchi among top 5 contestants. Rakesh was the first runner up.

The Grand Finale was telecast on Sunday, August 15 on Independence Day. The show got a touch of Patriotism as well. The contestants sang Vande Matram signifying 63 years of India’s freedom.

ACP Pradyumna of popular TV series C.I.D appeared on the show with much astonishment from the audiences. The actor Shivaji Satam made a surprise appearance to announce CID Gallantry awards. Among the special guests, there were two Bollywood beauties - Anushka Sharma and Kareena Kapoor. Finally the result was declared by veteran actor Mr. Amitabh Bachchan.

The show was judged by Saleem Merchant of Saleem-Sulaiman duo. Music director Anu Malik and singer Sunidhi Chauhan also formed the jury. The Jury was satisfied with public opinion. They congratulated winner Sreeram Chandra for being chosen as the Idol.

Twenty four years old Sreeram Chandra started singing in his school life. He started taking music lessons during his college. He has won many competitions. He even did playback singing in some Tamil films.

According to him, he still finds it hard to believe that he is indeed the winner. He says he has no plans as how to spend the prize money. His objective in his career is that he would like to sing in many national and international languages and set a world record.

He thanked people and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. K. Rosaiah. According to him, Mr. Rosaiah not only encouraged him but also asked the public to vote for him. He was speechless when he was announced the winner. Mr. Amitabh Bachchan helped him to say a thanking speech.

The show has given India some stars in previous years. Sreeram is also expected to become one of the brightest in this horizon.
