Rajkumar Hirani’s “3 Idiots” In Telugu?

HYDERABAD, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- “3 Idiots”, the Rajkumar Hirani directed 2009 blockbuster has won accolades not only in India but also around the world and other directors may want to cash in on his recent success. According to the latest news circulating in media circles, “3 Idiots” is preparing to venture towards the south where it is being said that the Aamir Khan starrer will be remade in Telugu and Tamil.

Although nothing has been confirmed as of yet, Mahesh Babu, the popular face of Telugu cinema could be essaying the role played by Aamir Khan in the original version of “3 Idiots”. The Telugu version will have Shankar in place of Rajkumar Hirani as its director. However it is also being said that the whole piece of news is a rumor and has no base to it because neither Shankar nor Mahesh Babu could be available for comment. According to reports in various tabloids selling in south India, if the Telugu version of “3 Idiots” does go on the floors, the film will be produced by Gemini Film Circuit with A. R. Rahman composing the music for the new film.

The Bollywood version of “3 Idiots” with Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, R. Madhavan and Sharman Joshi in the lead roles was one of the most popular films that has ever been made in the Hindi film industry. With earnings of Rs. 375 crore worldwide the film went on to be not only a commercial hit but also the highest revenue earner for Bollywood. The storyline being such that it can instantly draw the attention of the youth, critics feel that a remake will also be an equal hit. If all is well, Shankar may take over from Rajkumar Hirani left after he wraps up work on his current project with Rajnikanth and Aishwarya Rai.
