Last week’s ratings show Tuesday big night for TV

NEW YORK — Between baseball’s all-stars, entertainers with stars in their eyes and a beloved fishing captain, Tuesday was the big night for television last week.

The Nielsen Co. says five of the seven most-watched programs in prime-time TV were aired that night. Some were in direct competition with one another.

Fox’s coverage of the all-star game was TV’s most popular show with 12.1 million viewers, even though that was the smallest audience on record for that annual game. NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” was second for the week, airing at the same time.

Discovery’s “Deadliest Catch” recorded its biggest audience ever last Tuesday with an episode dealing with the death of Capt. Phil Harris after a stroke.
