MUMBAI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- India has been making some offbeat films in the recent past and one of them is the Vikramaditya Motwane directed “Udaan”. Releasing today, the movie promises path breaking results and a new concept in the Hindi film industry of India. However, going by the “Udaan” reviews that have been released in the press and the internet, critics have labeled it as not a very extraordinary film.

“Udaan” centers around a dysfunctional family, where a teenage boy tries his best to keep all the members of his family attached. While the performance of Rajat Barmecha has been given a thumbs up by film critics in the “Udaan” reviews, the film as a whole has failed to impress them. Rohan, played by Rajat Barmecha, is a rich kid who is packed off to a boarding school in the hills, from where he is expelled after he gets involved in a fight with some of his schoolmates. Which means that Rohan will now have to stay with his father, played by Ronit Roy and his step-brother Aayan Boradia. His father and the boy are, however, as different as chalk and cheese, and Rohan finally bonds with his half brother. The story of “Udaan” thus revolves around the family of three and their personal interactions.

“Udaan” produced by Anurag Kashyap, is the first film of Vikramaditya Motwane. Several “Udaan” reviews which are now available suggest that the director may not have been able to give his best since he is only a newcomer in Bollywood. Vikramaditya Motwane, however, says that he enjoyed making the film in spite of a no-star cast.
