MUMBAI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The Bipasha Basu-Kunal Kapoor starer “Lamhaa” which has been in the making for quite some time is hitting the movie theaters today all over India. The film deals with the theme of terrorism and militancy in the trouble torn Kashmir valley from a new angle. The director of the film is Rahul Dholakia. This is one of the major releases of the year and the movie also has Sanjay Dutt playing a vital role. The film has got positive reviews but it is difficult to say how it will fare at the box office. There are a number of films made on the same theme but not all of them have done well at the box office.
In “Lamhaa” actress Bipasha Basu has been presented in a completely new avatar, a far cry from her usual glamorous self. The actress thinks it is one of her most serious roles till date after the 2006 hit “Corporate.” The film maker has not shied away from portraying the grim realities the people of the valley face. The scenes of army brutality on civilians, greedy politicians manipulating for votes and a village comprising of women whose husbands are missing mysteriously, make one feel how different and pathetic the lives of these people are.
However, the director of “Lamhaa” has maintained the touch of Bollywood as well. Sanjay Dutt’s costume is quite fashionable. As for Bipasha Basu, she tries hard to portray herself as a Kashmiri woman but her urban demeanor become evident in some scenes. The other actors do their bit rather well.
