LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- On Wednesday night the History Channel’s latest show “Chasing Mummies” debuted at 10 p.m. and once again like many of its shows, “Chasing Mummies” was able to capture the attention of the audience. Each and every bit of the archeological adventure that famous archeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass took up with his crew in Cairo, Egypt was enjoyable. The show took the viewers to a realm of mummies that can be as old as 2000 to 3000 years. The real life adventures of the crew that traveled and fought the extreme climatic conditions of Egypt, made “Chasing Mummies” a reality show with a difference.

The “Chasing Mummies” was promoted by the History channel as a series that will keep in front of the audience for the first time “unexpected details” along with all the anxiety, catastrophes, passion and anguish that comes with the progress of the journey towards “astonishing ancient Egyptian finds”. Undoubtedly the show pointed to the dedication of the crew and especially that of Dr.Zahi Hawass who along with the American crew tried to retrieve Cleopatra’s pylon from the depths of the Bay of Alexandria.

The series will unfold the difficulties that the crew had to face during their search for the unknown. The executive producer of the “Chasing Mummies” Leslie Greif along with the crew was attacked by a swarm of bats. They also got stranded in the desert and had to kill a camel for food. Undoubtedly as Dr. Zahi Hawass said History channel showed “archaeology as we do it”.

This program is primarily about the OVER THE TOP ego-maniacal Zahi Hawass, and his seemingly schizophrenic penchant for wielding his authority to brow beat college kids (actors) trying to learn about ancient relics. Hawass is so unbearable that he renders the show almost unwatchable. The best hope is that the season finale will include Hawass suffering a cave-in at an excavation, or shows one of his assistants lashing him to a bedouin’s wayward camel with a choke collar and setting it loose across the desert at a full gallop. Trust me, after watching an episode or 2, you will agree…Horrible Horrible Horrible

You think it was enjoyable? this was the worst scripted “reality” piece of garbage I have ever forced myself to watch.
Witness the downfall of history channel.
