Olga Guillot Dies

MIAMI (GaeaTimes.com)- Olga Guillot, the iconic Cuban singer who is best known as the “Queen of the Bolero” breathed her last on Monday in Miami. The highly-regarded singer was 87 years of age and is survived by her daughter Olga Maria Touzet-Guillot. It has been reported that Olga Guillot passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest yesterday.
The news of Olga Guillot’s death has been validated by Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner’s office which has revealed that the celebrated Cuban musical artist died at the Mount Sinai Medical Center situated in Miami Beach. The high acclaimed singer’s death has come as a shock to the Cuban music industry as well as her fans who have been enjoying her enthralling music for years now. Since the news of her demise has surfaced, heartfelt condolences have been pouring in from various quarters.
Olga Guillot had an illustrious musical career spanning across six decades in which she had been bestowed with many honors such as 20 Gold Records, 10 Platinum Records, as well as one Diamond Record. Although Olga Guillot performed as a teenager with her sister, it was not until the 1940’s that her talent was actually recognized when she started emerging as one of the most promising musical talents of Cuba. However, two years after the Cuban revolution broke out, Olga Guillot left the nation and since then had been living in both Mexico and Miami. Over the years, the eminent Cuban musical artist also took part in more than 20 films and in almost all of them she payed herself.
