Walter Hawkins Died Yesterday

OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA (GaeaTime4s.com)- Bishop Walter Hawkins passed away yesterday afternoon after battling for two years from pancreatic cancer. The famous gospel singer, composer and pastor from the city of Oakland was only 61 years when he took his last breathe at his home in Ripon, California. Walter Hawkins’ sudden demise left his family and friends mourning and the singer’s death is marked a huge loss to the music industry.

Bishop Walter Hawkins’s death was confirmed by his brother Edwin Hawkins and yesterday evening another gospel legend Pastor Shirley Caesar in his personal homepage of a reputed social networking site posted the news of the demise where he expressed his condolence for the veteran singer. He expressed his blessed thoughts and prayers for the Grammy Award winning singer and his family and prayed that Walter Hawkins‘ soul “may rest in peace”. The fans of Walter Hawkins were informed through this reputed social networking sites only. Bishop started his career in 1972 with his first album “Do Your Best” and then on the next year he founded Love Center Church in Oakland. The singer and his Love Center Choir had considerable success with their love alive series which sold over a million copies.

Walter Hawkins‘ deteriorated health was obvious from early this year when could not appear the Stellar Award and last month too he was absent from Edward Hawkin’s “Music and Arts Love Fellowship Conference” in Chicago. The singer won his Grammy Award in 1980 for his “The Lord’s Prayer” which was appreciated by all his fans and jury members. Some of his famous songs include “Hold On Old Soldier”, “Seasons”.
