The London premier of the movie ‘Raavan’ has taken place and if the early reviews are to be believed this is one of the movies that should be among the highest grossers of 2010. The lead actors of the film, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and her actor husband Abhishek Bachchan were present in London to attend the international premier of the film. Bollywood films are a rage in the UK and a film by a director like Mani Ratnam is expected to get huge response.
‘Raavan’ is one of the films by the director that was in the making for a long time. It is loosely inspired by the epic Ramayana. The film is a tri lingual one and though Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is in all versions as the lead actress, the cast of the Hindi and Tamil versions are different. Dev essayed by Vikram is a cop who falls in love with a classical dancer played by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. They tie the knot and after the wedding the couple comes to a town where Veera (played by Abhishek Bachchan) calls the shot. He is a tribal leader. He is targeted by Dev and cops who accidentally kill his sister while trying to nab Veera.
This infuriates Veera who kidnaps Ragini, played by Aishwarya Rai and keeps her hidden in the forest. This starts a fierce battle between the tribals controlled by Veera and the cops. The film ‘Raavan’ looks promising and it is likely to satisfy Mani Ratnam fans.
