Son of Mexican singer Sebastian killed in bar
CUERNAVACA, Mexico — The son of Mexican singer Joan Sebastian was killed in a bar fight early Saturday, four years after another of his children was shot dead.
A security guard is suspected in the killing of Jose Sebastian Figueroa, the Morelos state Attorney General’s office said in a statement.
Figueroa, 32, arrived at the bar with friends but security guards would not let them in, according to the office. A fight ensued, and one of the guards shot Figueroa twice.
The statement did not say if the guard had been arrested. Nobody at the prosecutor’s office could be reached for further comment.
Another of Sebastian’s sons, Trigo Figuero, was shot and killed in August 2006 while trying to control la crowd after a concert by his father in Texas.
Sebastian, whose real name is Jose Manuel Figueroa, is a multiple Latin Grammy Award-winning singing cowboy who often performs on horseback. He won a Latin Grammy in 2009 for “No Es de Madera.”
