LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- Jamey Johnson was a rather unusual performer in the Country Music Television’s cable channel’s Awards. On the one hand, the CMT Awards are not exactly known for ushering in the newcomers in the limelight. It is more known as an award that generally honors the old and the well settled in the music industry. On the other hand, Jamey Johnson does not exactly fall in that category. He is just one album old, and while that won rave reviews from the critics, and managed to make great sales all over the world, it did not exactly turn him into a household name. Therefore, it was somewhat of a surprise when it was announced that he would be one of the guest performers at the CMT Awards.
The performance of Jamey Johnson in the CMT Awards was unusual in yet another respect. It is not very common for a singer to perform a song from a brand new album in front of a live audience, and that too a good three months before the album is set for a release. However, that is exactly what Jamey Johnson did at the CMT Awards. He went on to sing one of the songs from his brand new album, “The Guitar Songs”, which is all set to hit the stands in September this year.
The performance of Jamey Johnson’s “Macon”, from “The Guitar Songs”, had the audience enthralled, and it could be very well seen why the song had been receiving such rave reviews from the listeners who had heard it on the web, where it had been available for so long.
