Tamil Cinema Actor Arvind Swamy Seeks Divorce

CHENNAI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- Arvind Swamy, the one-time popular Tamil cinema actor is in the news again but this time the reason is not his films. The actor has reportedly separated from Gayathri, his wife of sixteen years. The couple have been fighting it out in court for a couple of years now and have finally been given the green signal from the courts in Chennai.

Reports from the Tamil cinema industry suggest that Arvind Swamy and his wife have been experiencing family disputes for the past two years and both had also filed a divorce petition under a family court in the city. The court has reportedly accepted the petition submitted by the actor and his wife and both have separated under mutual consent. The court papers suggest that the couple were experiencing disharmony at home, the reason for which they decided to seek a divorce. Arvind Swamy has two children with wife Gayathri.

Although the actor has been absent from action for a fairly long time now, he was considered one of the best actors of Tamil cinema not so long ago. Arvind Swamy was also regarded as a heartthrob of the Kollywood film industry. The actor can still boast of a career in which he has worked with stalwarts like Mani Ratnam. His films with the renowned director had also introduced him to Bollywood for a brief period of time. With “Roja” and “Bombay” in his kitty, Arvind Swamy came to be regarded as one of the best picks by directors in both Hindi and Tamil cinema.
