‘Diff’rent Strokes’ star Gary Coleman passes away at 42

LONDON - ‘Diff’rent Strokes’ star Gary Coleman has died of brain haemorrhage, caused after he suffered a fall at his home on Wednesday. He was 42.

Utah Hospital, where he had been admitted, confirmed that he passed away after being taken off a life support machine.

“Family members and close friends were at his side when life support was terminated,” the Sun quoted a spokesman, as saying.

The rep added: “Family members express their appreciation and gratitude for the support and prayers that have been expressed for Gary and for them.”

Coleman suffered from a kidney disease early in his life, which stunted his growth and limited his height to 4ft 8in.

He had undergone kidney transplants in 1973 and 1984, making him dependent on daily dialysis.

Coleman success as Arnold Willis in ‘Diff’rent Strokes’ once made him the highest-paid actor on TV with 100,000 dollars an episode.

However, his career declined and he was declared bankrupt in 1999.

He also confessed that he twice tried committing suicide with sleeping pill overdoses.

In January this year, he was bailed on a domestic violence case after an alleged row with wife Shannon Price, 24.

Diff’rent Strokes was aired between 1978 and 1986. (ANI)
