Anchorman Sequel Pulled

Hopes for another ANCHORMAN movie have been dashed after executives at film studio PARAMOUNT axed plans for a sequel.

Director Adam McKay was desperate to film a follow-up to the 2004 hit, which stars Will Ferrell as a dim-witted newsreader, and even managed to convince the comedy’s cast, which also included Steve Carell and Christina Applegate, to reduce their fee to appear in it.

The filmmaker then turned to Paramount bosses to ask for funding for the project, but they rejected the idea.

A disappointed McKay writes in a post on Twitter.com, “So bummed. Paramount basically passed on Anchorman 2. Even after we cut our budget down. We tried.

“To all who asked: no we can’t do Anchorman 2 at another studio. Paramount owns it.”
