LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- The latest episode of the popular show on CBS, “60 Minutes,” explored the recent and rapidly growing tendency among the younger generation, particularly the school and college going ones, of popping pills that they feel help in boosting their brain power, and hence enhance their grades. The experts on the show spoke about these drugs, of these Ritalin and Aderall being the ones to be maximum consumed by the students, and also of the side effects of these drugs, which are bound to come into effect after such extensive use.
The experts in the show pointed out that a growing number of students are becoming more and more depending upon so called smart drugs like Ritalin and Aderall, without even being aware that they might, later on, suffer from some serious consequences, or side effects of the same drugs. Of all of these, Aderall seems to have the maximum amount of side effects, ans is hence also the most harmful. In fact, some experts have even gone so far as to point out that Aderall has the same side effect as a steroid.
Experts point out that Aderall side effects include an abnormally increased blood pressure, raising the risk of a hemorrhage. The drug seems to affect the heart most of all, increasing the heart rate, and reports suggest that there have been deaths of people who have had a history of heart related ailments. Moreover, Aderall also incurs mental problems, such as a marked difference in thought processes, often changing for the worse, and also certain panic symptoms.

What about getting some sleep first and doing some time management. our society is pill driven. We would drink coffe and talk walks to stay alert. The long term effects of these drugs is not being considered by these students. Go to youtube and search for adderall addiction and see. Also go to cchr.org. The Citizen’s Commission on Human Rights to really see the bigger picture |

These ADD and ADHD drugs are so incredibly dangerous. Anyone considering taking them needs to be advised that most of them are Black Boxed, meaning they have the toughest warning given by the FDA. Most of them increase aggression, create other behavioral problems and include the risk of heart attack and suicide. Anyone who knows someone who is taking an ADHD or ADD drug should take a look at the Citizen’s Commission on Human Rights (CCHR.org) website or the FDA website to get the real information. |

Great article. But I think the report makes all smart drugs look bad. There are very safe ones like Piracetam and everyone’s beloved Coffee |
