April 24, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): The Bollywood musical, Kingdom of Dreams, was supposed to star Vivek Oberoi. Despite all the efforts that were made to get him to do the musical, Vivek is no longer a part of the project. Apparently Prince’s decent opening is the reason behind it.

Though Vivek was chosen to be a part of the musical which is based on Bollywood in the 1970s, he doesn’t seem interested in doing it anymore. This is because his film, Prince, unexpectedly had a good opening.

Now that Vivek has plainly refused to do the play, he has been replaced by TV star and trained dancer Hussain Kuwajerwalla.

Hussain shot to fame after he won the dance reality show, Nach Baliye 2 and with his Bollywood dancing skills, he seemed to be the perfect choice for the musical. Hussain was apparently recommended for the role by Javed Akhtar. Javed Akhtar has written Kingdom of Dreams.

Vivek, who was initially very excited about returning to his theatre roots, had even readied his dates for the play. However, just two days after his film Prince opened well, Vivek began to have date issues and stated that the play’s dates were clashing with his next film, which will be shot in London.

The tickets for the show, starring Vivek Oberoi, Gauhar Khan and Isha Sharvani had already been sold. Vivek states that the tickets weren’t sold on his name but were sold for the play. He reveals that even though he tried to work the dates out, he had to opt out as he needs to focus on his upcoming film.

Hussain is very excited to have the opportunity come his way. He loves Bollywood dance and thus wants to make the most of it. He’s been rehearsing a lot for his character, who is a typical Bollywood hero. He is pretty impressed after seeing the auditorium itself.
