April 19, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): The big news is that veteran actor and Bollywood super star Amitabh Bachchan will be seen in a guest appearance in forthcoming flick Kandahar and that too for ‘free’. The movie will be directed by Major Ravi who is an army officer turned filmmaker and is to be made simultaneously in Malyalam, Tamil and Telugu.
The megastar seems to hold special regard for Mohanlal who is to play the lead in the movie. Amitabh refers to him as the great exponent of art and craft and one of the finest actors of the country and said he could not have refused the offer. The two seem to have met earlier during Amitabh’s short visit to Kerala, where he had gone to attend the honor ceremony of Resul Pukutty, on winning an Oscar.
The details seem to have been sorted and Amitabh is to give a small appearance which will require 3 days of shoots. Mohanlal along with Director Ravi had gone over to finalize dates and schedules for the film and to officially sign the actor making payments etc. But the actor declined the offer to accept any payments or remuneration saying that he cannot charge money for such acts with great actors like Mohanlal. Amitabh mentioned that he shall gloat in the honor that he will derive from working in a Malyalam movie with the ‘exceptional’ Mohanlal.
The actor was seen declaring this on his blog. The movie Kandahar is based on the Kandahar Indian flight hijack in 1999 which had a lasting impact on the nation. The movie will be shot in Kerala, Delhi and Nepal.
