LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- “60 Minutes”, the popular documentary show that airs on CBS, featured the unique concept of snus on Sunday, a particular form of non smoking tobacco that has recently gained a lot of popularity owing to the anti smoking bans and no smoking laws that have come to effect all over the United States, and in fact, all over the world. The show “60 Minutes” probed into the issue of the new alternative addiction, and into the possible damages that it can cause to the human body, despite being a non-smoking option.
As it was mentioned in the show, snus is a processed form of tobacco which does not have to be inhaled, but is to be taken in the mouth. Fudge brown in color, this particular form of tobacco has gained huge popularity among the smokers who have cut down on smoking as a result of the anti-smoking laws. However, it has also been found that these very teenagers are the ones most likely to be affected by throat cancer, which seems to be a likely side effect of taking snus.
Snus is one of the many alternatives that manufacturers have been forced to take recourse to after the smoking ban came into effect. The other alternatives that the manufacturers have hit upon big time are lozenges, strips and snuff in order to boost rapidly declining sales and to satisfy the customers’ craving for nicotine. According to what was said in the show, snus has been picked up most by the Swedes, one among every five of whom was found to be addicted to snus.

I love Snus. I found out about it on the Snus Authority blog, and it has helped me to quit smoking. I feel so much better breathing now, and have yet to see any harmful effects! I much prefer Swedish Snus over the American brands though. |
