Veteran singers honoured

March 30, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Private satellite channel Suvarana has honoured four veteran playback singers - Dr P Susheela, L.R.Ishwari, Rathnamala Prakash and Manjula Gururaj on Saturday on the show ‘Old is Gold’. The veterans were honoured at Jnanajyothi at Central College in Bangalore.
Bangaradha Manushya’s popular song ‘Bala Bangara Neenu…’ was performed by P Susheela. The Padmabhushan winner also performed ‘Karpooradha Gombe Naanu…’ from Nagarahavu, ‘Elle Iru Hege Iru…’ from Kasthuri Nivasa. LR Ishwari sang ‘Joke Naanu Balliya Minchu…’ from Samshaya Phala, ‘Rasika Rasika…’ from Bhale Bhasker. Nagamandala and Elu Suttina Kote songs were performed by Rathnamala Prakash.
The audience was delighted when Manjula Gururaj sung songs from Nanjundi Kalyana and Anjadha Gandu.
The show was anchored by actress Vinayaprakash and actress Jayanthi was the guest on this occasion. The show will be broadcast on April 3rd and 4th on Suvarana satellite channel.
