British singer MICA PARIS is proud her daughter has forged a successful recording career - because the star did all she could to discourage the teenager from entering the music business.

The soul star’s eldest daughter, Monet, 18, has a deal with top U.K. label Island Records and is busy working on her debut album.

But Paris didn’t envisage a career in music for the teen.

She tells British chat show Loose Women, “This industry is so hard. She’s gorgeous and I told her she could do anything, like modelling.

“I was hoping she wouldn’t be like me. You say, ‘Please God, don’t make my children like me!’, but she is. She sounds fantastic and she’s signed to Island now.

“When I see Monet singing, I’m like (in awe) and then afterwards I cry! I go, ‘My daughter, can you believe it!’”
