LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- The audiences present at the 82nd Academy Awards were left rather amused when journalist Elinor Burkett ran up to the stage and stopped best documentary winner Roger Ross Williams from completing his Oscar acceptance speech. Elinor Burkett is the producer of the documentary “Music by Prudence”, which was honored with Oscar in the best documentary short category at the award ceremony last night.

After being bestowed with the recognition, Roger Ross Williams walked on the stage to bask in his moment of glory. The director had commenced his acceptance speech in which he revealed that he was extremely surprised to have received the Academy award. Roger Ross Williams went to express his excitement and implied that he had he had never imagined that one day he would be in such a huge platform. However, the director could not go on for a very long time, as soon Elinor Burkett appeared on the stage and pushed her way through the mike and began her speech. The director hardly had much to do as Elinor Burkett grabbed the mike and launched in her own speech. Interestingly, the journalist later claimed that Roger Ross Williams 87 year old mother had blocked the way with her stick which stopped her from getting on the stage after the winner was announced.

Meanwhile, Elinor Burkett’s interruption of her collaborator’s speech not only left the audiences rather amused, it has also been successful in creating quite a stir in the internet more so because it is reminiscent of the Kanye West’s interruption of Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the MTV Music Awards.
