British actor PAUL BETTANY always dreamed of becoming a pop star, but turned to acting when he realised he didn’t like singing in front of crowds.

The Da Vinci Code star showed off his musical talents as a busker in London when he was a teenager, before he applied to drama school and began his acting career.

And Bettany admits his desire to become a recording artist evaporated early on in his life.

He says, “I wanted to write music and be a pop star but I didn’t like singing my songs in front of people. I wouldn’t ever want anybody to know something raw about me. With acting, they can say: ‘Oh I bet he’s really like that,’ but nobody really knows.”
