Diversity in the arts celebrated at Image Awards
LOS ANGELES — Mary J. Blige, Morgan Freeman, Jamie Foxx and Sandra Bullock (BUH’-luhk) are among the stars set to celebrate diversity in the arts at the 41st annual NAACP Image Awards.
The awards will be presented Friday at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. They honor outstanding achievements in film, television, music and literature.
Nominees include “Precious,” Gabourey Sidibe (GA’-buh-ray SIH’-dee-bay), “Grey’s Anatomy,” ”Glee” and Jay-Z.
Tyler Perry will receive the Chairman’s Award for his career and philanthropic work. Wyclef Jean will be presented with the Vanguard Award, which honors an artist whose work increases understanding of social and racial issues.
The show will air live on Fox starting at 8 p.m. Eastern.
