SAN FRANCISCO (GaeaTimes.com)- Ace director Martin Scorsese has made 4 films with Hollywood heartthrob Leonardo DiCaprio and the latest one is an intense thriller named Shutter Island. Earlier the actor-director duo has come together in movies like The Aviator, Gangs of New York and The Departed. These flicks have proved to be successful at the box office an also won oodles of critical acclaim. Martin Scorsese films undeniably gather critical attention when they get released and the latest one is no exception. The backdrop of Shutter Island is set in the turbulent times of the 1950s. Stalwart actor Sir Ben Kingsley is also included in its cast. The novel from which this movie has been adapted was composed by Dennis Lehane. The director has altered the ending to an extent.

However, even with the twist in the ending, Shutter Island has got rave reviews from the critics. If initial review is anything to go by, this movie may sweep the award ceremonies in the future. Like all of his directorial ventures, Martin Scorsese has used his imaginative touch and creativity to good use in this one. The performance by Leonardo DiCaprio is a far cry from his lover boy acts seen in the Titanic days. He brings alive the angry and frustrated detective with his acting skills and superb expressions. His raw and sensitive act is likely to get him accolades.

It would be wrong to dismiss Shutter Island as a typical Hollywood thriller or horror flick. The editing and visuals are simply superb and the supporting actors have also done great jobs. Those who do not mind the ending would love the flick surely.

When the tragedy occurred, unable to face, you can go crazy, or select mad. If you do not choose to go crazy, you’ll go crazy. In fact, that simple. The film is able to arouse people’s thinking.
