LONDON - James Bond fans may have to wait with their fingers crossed - the spy’s future looks uncertain with MGM studios up for sale.

The pre-production work on the 23rd Bond flick, starring Daniel Craig, has come to a standstill and even the shooting has been shifted to a later date.

MGM has to clear its debts before anything fruitful takes place.

“In the words of another great British hero, Antarctic explorer Captain Oates, the next James Bond movie may be some time,” the Daily Express quoted Terence Doyle, editor of British Film Magazine, as saying.

Co-producer Michael G Wilson said: “We just don’t know enough about the situation to comment but we know it’s uncertain.”

A new flick may go into production at the end of this year and may be ready for release in 2011.

The last Bond movie to hit cinemas was the Quantum Of Solace in 2006.

Time Warner, Lionsgate and News Corp are likely to bid for MGM. (ANI)
