‘The Kung-Fu Kid’: Remake Of ‘The Karate Kid’

San Francisco - In the year 1984 came a revolutionary movie following in the foorsteps of ‘Rocky’. The movie called, ‘The Karate Kid’, had Ralph Machchio in the lead, and also made him the new boy of tinsel town. Now the movie is set to be made again by the ‘Hancock’ star, Will Smith, and will be having Will’s son in the lead role. Jaden Smith, will be working alongside, Jackie Chan who will play the character of ‘Mr Miyagi’, but with a new name. The new movie is set to release on the 11th Of June 2010, and is named, ‘The Kung-Fu Kid’.
The original movie won its actors many awards including the Academy Award for the Best Supporting Actor to Pat Morita. Morita was also nominated for the Golden Globe Awards, with the movie winning The best Family Motion Picture Award. The young Elisabeth Shue won the Best Supporting Actress Award and William Zebka was nominated for the Best Young Supporting Actor Award.
The remake takes its plot from the original movie, and revolves around the character of Dre played by Smith. Dre, is seen moving to China’s capital with his mother, where he is bullied very badly. This is followed by Dre starting to learn the martial arts from the Character of ‘Mr Han’ which is played by Jackie Chan. The movie has been written and directed by Michael Soccio and Harald Zwart, respectively. The original movie spanned the genre of action/ drama and was also listed at #98 in the 100 most inspiring movie of all times. Now it is to be seen, what the new remake has in store for its star cast and for the audience.
