WHITNEY HOUSTON’s teenage daughter served up a double surprise for fans of the singer when she made an unexpected appearance on a recent OPRAH special, dedicated to her mum.

Fans of the diva were invited to a sneak peak of the TV titan’s exclusive interview with Houston, which aired on Monday and Tuesday (14-15Sep09) in America, but had no idea the singer would be appearing onstage in front of them.

And, after Houston sang new song I Didn’t Know My Own Strength - from her comeback album I Look To You - and briefly chatted with host Oprah Winfrey, the cameras panned to the singer’s 16-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina, who was sitting among the audience.

Asked how proud she was of her mother after Houston had overcome a turbulent marriage and drug problems, Bobbi Kristina said, “Words can’t explain how proud I am of her… I’ve been there with her through everything… I stay by her side. That’s like my best friend, like my sister.”

Her mum stated, “It wasn’t easy but she never let go of my hand. And I never let go of hers.”

There were surprises in store for the singer too - with recorded tributes from her mentor Clive Davis, aunt Dionne Warwick, Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera and Jennifer Hudson, who confessed she sings Whitney songs to her baby son.

Dion said, “I’m so happy that you’re back. It’s been way too long and we’ve missed you - a lot.”
