Rap mogul SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS joined in a student protest at his alma mater on Friday (04Sep09) by ‘tweeting’ his support against the bureaucracy at his former Washington, D.C. school.

Combs enrolled at Howard University in the late 1980s, juggling his studies with an internship at Uptown Records in his native New York.

Around 350 new students at the school demonstrated their anger at university officials by holding a peaceful protest outside the institution’s administration building last week after experiencing delays with on-campus housing, financial aid and other problems.

Combs added his voice to the protest by rallying support for the students via his Twitter.com blog in a series of posts on Friday - even offering to show up in person to help the embattled students get their point across.

He wrote, “NO JUSTICE! NO PEACE!!! Let me know if y’all need me to come down there y’all! I got y’all BACK! Let’s go!!!”

Another ‘tweet’ read: “Do what we did and take IT OVER!!!! Let’s go! And do it in a peaceful way but DO IT!! … If your (sic) at HU go to the A (administration) building now and make sure they feel you!!! And send me updates!!! Let’s go!”

And it appears Combs’ involvement has helped student body officials get their messages across - university bosses agreed to set up a meeting with student representatives later on Friday to discuss their issues, while another talk has been scheduled for this week (begs07Sep09).
