WASHINGTON - In what could be called as a ’slang tangle’, Rupert Friend was embarrassed when his ‘Cheri’ co-star Michelle Pfeiffer unwittingly invited him to feel her up.

The British actor, who stars as Pfeiffer’s toyboy lover in the period drama, had to slap the American actress on the bottom in one scene.

But Keira Knightely’s boyfriend was left red-faced during the shoot as Pfeiffer began referring to her backside using the American slang “fanny” - a term which refers to the female genitalia in British colloquialism.

“There was one scene where Michelle’s getting a massage and I wanted to hit her on the bum; I asked if I could and Michelle said, ‘Yeah, you can smack my fanny all you like!’” Contactmusic quoted Friend as saying.

He added: “And in England a fanny means a completely different part (of the body)! In America it’s the middle of a woman in the back; in England it’s the middle of a woman in the front!” (ANI)
