LONDON - He may be one of the richest rock stars of all the time, but when it came to buying an ice-cream van, Sir Mick Jagger couldn’t quite cut the deal.

The legendary Rolling Stone frontman recently fell in love with an ice-cream van he spotted while he was on a walk.

It was a beautifully restored 1954 Morris J-type van from which the owner was flogging traditional ice cream on Wandsworth Common near his home in southwest London.

The van’s owner Giuseppe Della Camera had spent ten years and 35,000 pounds to restore the rusting vehicle to perfection, after he spotted it on a farm where it was used as a chicken shed.

However, he plainly refused to sell the van even when Jagger offered him a whopping 100,000 pounds for the vehicle.

“I was working on Wandsworth Common when Sir Mick came up with his son and bought a couple of ice creams,” the Sun quoted Giuseppe as saying.

He added: “He told me he’d really fallen in love with my van and asked me if I would consider selling it. I was stunned when he offered me 100,000 pounds.

Sir Mick has got seven children and I think he probably wanted my van to entertain his grandchildren.”

He turned down Mick’s bid because he had promised daughter Alessia, 12, that he would one day drive her to her wedding in it.

Giuseppe said: “I must admit I was tempted when he offered me 100,000 pounds. But I told him I couldn’t possibly sell it, because it’s always been my dream to drive my daughter Alessia to her wedding one day in my little ice-cream van.” (ANI)
