LONDON - Former “Friends” star Matt LeBlanc thinks he is so associated with his sitcom character Joey Tribbiani that people think he is stupid.

The 43-year-old actor, who is best known for his portrayal of the pizza-loving ladies-man Joey in the decade-long comedy series, thinks many people speak slowly to him because of his work on the TV sitcom, but it can play to his advantage, reports contactmusic.com.

“Being known as Joey always gives me an advantage going into any situation because their guard is down. They think I’m stupid. They speak nice and slow to me,” LeBlanc said.

However, he has no regrets about playing the Italian-American hunk because people believed his portrayal so much they no longer know the difference between him and the character.

“I never look at it as a bad thing. If someone believes your performance you’ve done and really thinks you’re that person, that’s kind of a compliment,” he said.

LeBlanc, who starred alongside Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry in the TV show, recently said he would not be sure about returning to do a reunion because it would be “sad”.

“What would the story be? We all get together and what? Have coffee? It would be almost sad. It’s better to just imagine what those characters are doing now,” he said.
